During the third quarter of 2023, the top 5 social networking applications in Saudi Arabia showcased varying trends in downloads, revenue, and active users on a unified platform, according to data from Sensor Tower.

Threads had a noticeable drop in weekly downloads, starting with around 776K in early July and falling to about 32K by the end of September. Active users also saw fluctuations, peaking at approximately 748K in the second week of July before stabilizing around 345K by the end of the quarter.

WhatsApp Messenger maintained a strong presence with weekly downloads ranging from 195K to 112K. The app’s active user base remained consistently high, starting at 13.7M and slightly increasing to 13.9M by the end of September.

Telegram Messenger displayed a steady increase in weekly revenue, peaking at around $13.4K in the final week of September. Downloads fluctuated, reaching a high of 159K in mid-August. Active user numbers also grew, from 7.7M in late June to approximately 8.2M by the end of the quarter.

TwitterIt for Twitter X saw a significant spike in downloads in late July with 125K, before settling to around 16K by the end of September. Active user trends mirrored this, peaking at 95K in early August and then maintaining around 70K towards the end of the quarter.

Facebook experienced consistent weekly revenue, reaching approximately $40.6K in the final week of September. Downloads remained stable between 141K and 134K throughout the quarter. Active users showed a slight increase, starting at 11.3M and ending at 11.6M.
